Sean & Lane Davey
Sean is originally from the Australian island state of Tasmania, which, like Hawaii, is one of the most beautiful, naturally wild places on the earth today and has developed a reputation for producing world quality nature photographers. He took up photography when he was 16 and have pursued it with a passion ever since. After building up a name in Australia through his career as a photographer (and occasional journalist) for the surfing magazines of Australia, Sean then met his wife Lane during the '95-'96 Hawaiian surf season and married the following season, moving to Hawaii the following August (he couldn't get her to leave Hawaii for Australia). The Daveys have been here for many years and enjoy the natural beauty that Hawaii has to offer, especially up on the North shore. It's a constant source of inspiration to anyone with an artistic streak. Sean "shoots" a lot of different imagery in the course of his work, but is always most inspired by the colors and contrasts that nature itself has to offer. Today, Sean shoots for many magazines around the world, including Surfer magazine, right here in the USA. He has also developed a website, based around his work entitled www.greenflashphoto.com, which as many can probably guess, was inspired by the green flash; a natural phenomenon that can often be seen at the very moment that the sun disappears over the horizon. Thankfully with Hawaii being a series of islands, the sunset can be viewed from many locations on the North, South and West facing shores. Sean's site consistently receives around 200,000 hits a month, a sure-fire way to tell that the people like his work. One of Sean's specialties has been the on-going documentation of ocean generated waves. Currently, his site features 480 extremely different images of these oceanic gems. Most of the images on his site, (including all waves) are immediately available for commercial use or as high quality photographic prints.
